The Sri Lanka Tourist Board's latest initiative is the 'Come Visit Me' campaign. Triad Advertising provides the concepts and marketing material for SLTB and discovered our services in July, this year.
Working with large entities offer the ideal exposure - high quality service and demanding deadlines.
SocialIT is involved with 3 major components of the 'Come Visit Me' campaign.
- Interactive Map: Complete with aerial video-footage of major attractions, such as The Sigiriya Fortress, The Temple of the Tooth, The Galle Fort and other prominent Tourist attractions. The Map will allow the user to filter attractions according to interest/themes.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Online Marketing: Ongoing Google/Facebook Advertising to ensure SLTB has a strong, positive online presence. Blogging and sharing is encouraged via the official Facebook page, to gather support and feedback from both the locals and the tourists.
- Mobile Application: Due to the rapid growth in Mobile Internet usage, SLTB aims to provide an interactive application that will be compatible on all major mobile platforms - iphones/ipads, Blackberrys, Androids and Symbian.
The development of the Interactive Map is in progress and will be launched on the first week of Novemeber. The Map feature will revolutionise the way we browse the Island, complete with Google-mapping, video-footage of the attraction and online bookings. The Mobile App will be launched subsequently.
The Facebook page has kicked-off well, with over 6,000+ fans within the initial 30day period. There is considerable activity on the page for now - FB Advertising and promotions will keep driving these numbers upward.
USAID - CORE
US Embassy NGO, CORE (Connecting Regional Economies) is a charity project funded by the US Government. This initiative to support economic development in Sri Lanka has been ongoing since 2008.
A revamp was needed. SocialIT offered a variety of structures and layouts for the proposed site and incorporated a user-friendly blog (News Room) which could be updated constantly, by CORE staff. This facility is ideal to ensure the user receives the latest (fresh) content.
Search-Engine Optimization (SEO) is an ongoing service to ensure a steady flow of traffic to the site.
The site allows users to download all USAID Assesments, Policy Briefs and other documents/forms.
This project was completed within a period of 60days and ended with a user-interface training session for CORE staff. A designated administrator updates and edits content - all changes are uploaded in real-time.
Eventhough CORE is a charitable project and there is no aggressive marketing - the page yields close to 600 visitors monthly.

Alpex Marine Security and Investigations, a diversified service within the Group also teamed-up with SocialIT during Logo and Brochure Development.
A client with a diversified portfolio will require customised solutions, always.
SocialIT initially developed a logo for the Alpex Security and Investigations division, which used the element of an 'Eagle' - representing 'Agility' and 'Precision'. Soon after, SocialIT designed a Brochure (A5/12pags), for marketing and promotions.
Currently, Alpex Marine is redesigning their main website (Seafood Exports), with SocialIT - to be launched by the end of November. The site is for large wholesalers and requires high-quality images and detailed product information.
The Logo development and Brochure design was successful. Alpex Security and Investigations provide their services to a variety of industries.
We are confident that the Alpex Marine Group site will not only increase enquiries; it will make the process of communication between their clients more efficient.

So Sri Lankan provides off-the-shelf and tailor-made itineraries for adventurous visitors wanting to sample the best of Sri Lanka – from exhilarating blue whale or elephant safaris, to archaeological journeys through ancient kingdoms and pampering sessions in beach-side ayurvedic spas.
SocialIT was involved with development of the Logo and Interactive Map feature, which allow users to make bookings via the map.
The key element of the Logo is the truly local 'Vesmuhuna' (an exotic devil mask) that is unique to Sri Lanka.
The Interactive Map was designed in detail - the layers included, Terrain, Rivers, National Parks, World Heritage sites and all other major tourist attractions. Making an enquiry/booking regarding a particular attraction or activitiy can be done on the 'click'.
SocialIT received considerable appreciation for the concept of the Interactive Map, which led to other clients within the industry, requesting a similar feature.
Colombo Top 500
Colombo Top 500 seeks Sri Lanka‟s top 500 brands to inaugurate an online platform that will revolutionize online marketing and sales. A growing population, of approximately 2million local, internet-savvy consumers, is on the cusp of a purchasing frenzy with the festive-season around the corner. Is your brand "socialized‟?
SocialIT was selected as CT500's official IT Partner in July 2011 and since then have developed a state-of-the-art platform, that will benefit the consumer tremendously.
The proposed structure and concept is to simplify the consumers‟ task of finding the best offers in the market, while giving the best brands within the country, the opportunity to reach their target audience. This "everything under one-roof‟ solution enables the consumer to save time/money, while enjoying a pleasant user-experience – through our distinctive design and layout.
These "Squares‟ (brand icons) will be offered in 3 variants:
The Basic icon (as shown previously), which will allow the consumer to "click‟ on the brand-icon and be taken to its official website/Facebook Page or any other selected link.
The Flashing icon, when the brand-icon is "flashing/blinking‟ – this would represent a current offer/deal which is ongoing.
The Glowing icon, when the brand-icon is "glowing from green to red" – this would represent a current offer/deal which expires soon, thereby pushing the consumer to act fast.
The software will allow consumers to filter and search for particular (brands) products and services OR even filter these icons to view brands, categorized by Industry/Interest.
A second-phase development would include a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) interface, which will allow users a free online registration option. This function will study and monitor individual, consumer behavior patterns, which will allow Colombo Top 500 to place brands more effectively.
A platform for Brands to compete with relevant, industry offers.
Economic benefit of "Competition‟ to the Consumer.
Fly Sri Lanka is a domestic air/taxi service, catering to both, the high-end and budget traveler. A subsidiary of 'Eco Team',(specialising in eco-friendly, adventure holidays) Fly Sri Lanka, has the potential to be the leader in the air-taxi industry in Sri Lanka, by end 2012.
SocialIT handled development of the logo and designs/layouts for the Fly Sri Lanka website.
The helicopter and the sea-plane were two elements considered during development. The sea-plane however, provided a more all-round description of the service, when compared to the helicopter. Also, with an existing competitor in the heli-tours industry, it was more practical to go with the 'sea-plane'. Fly Sri Lanka's corporate colors (Blue and Red) and a catchy tag-line was included to arrive at the final solution.
The structure for the website was intricate, complete with an online-booking engine, flight-search facility and enquiry system. Chatting in real-time to online staff of Fly Sri Lanka was also enabled to allow 'ease-of-access' to the consumer.
The flight-search results and online-bookings could be filtered by 'Scheduled Flights' (where the consumer can choose an already scheduled flight and book a seat) and 'Charter Flights' (where the consumer can charter/book an entire flight)
The layout and design was neat and tidy with a flash-player displaying a series of aerial shots of the Island at the top (on all pages).
Fly Sri Lanka is somewhat, a pioneer to the domestic air-travel industry. Due the vast experience of the principal company (in the Tourism industry - Eco Team), Fly Sri Lanka has noted that the site has facilitated more enquiries and been a portal to the group, as a whole.

Life is what you make of it.
Social IT was the product of a multitude of experiences which were, weirdly, inter-connected. Recognizing opportunity within markets isn't enough. Having all the 'right' connections isn't enough. Opportunity must be met with a strategic plan to make all the pieces fit, which will in turn ensure long-term sustainability of the venture.
Social IT is here to stay!
