Colombo Top 500
Overview
Colombo Top 500 seeks Sri Lanka‟s top 500 brands to inaugurate an online platform that will revolutionize online marketing and sales. A growing population, of approximately 2million local, internet-savvy consumers, is on the cusp of a purchasing frenzy with the festive-season around the corner. Is your brand "socialized‟?
SocialIT was selected as CT500's official IT Partner in July 2011 and since then have developed a state-of-the-art platform, that will benefit the consumer tremendously.
Solution
The proposed structure and concept is to simplify the consumers‟ task of finding the best offers in the market, while giving the best brands within the country, the opportunity to reach their target audience. This "everything under one-roof‟ solution enables the consumer to save time/money, while enjoying a pleasant user-experience – through our distinctive design and layout.
These "Squares‟ (brand icons) will be offered in 3 variants:
The Basic icon (as shown previously), which will allow the consumer to "click‟ on the brand-icon and be taken to its official website/Facebook Page or any other selected link.
The Flashing icon, when the brand-icon is "flashing/blinking‟ – this would represent a current offer/deal which is ongoing.
The Glowing icon, when the brand-icon is "glowing from green to red" – this would represent a current offer/deal which expires soon, thereby pushing the consumer to act fast.
The software will allow consumers to filter and search for particular (brands) products and services OR even filter these icons to view brands, categorized by Industry/Interest.
Result
A second-phase development would include a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) interface, which will allow users a free online registration option. This function will study and monitor individual, consumer behavior patterns, which will allow Colombo Top 500 to place brands more effectively.
A platform for Brands to compete with relevant, industry offers.
Economic benefit of "Competition‟ to the Consumer.
FlySrilanka
Overview
Fly Sri Lanka is a domestic air/taxi service, catering to both, the high-end and budget traveler. A subsidiary of 'Eco Team',(specialising in eco-friendly, adventure holidays) Fly Sri Lanka, has the potential to be the leader in the air-taxi industry in Sri Lanka, by end 2012.
SocialIT handled development of the logo and designs/layouts for the Fly Sri Lanka website.
Solution
The helicopter and the sea-plane were two elements considered during development. The sea-plane however, provided a more all-round description of the service, when compared to the helicopter. Also, with an existing competitor in the heli-tours industry, it was more practical to go with the 'sea-plane'. Fly Sri Lanka's corporate colors (Blue and Red) and a catchy tag-line was included to arrive at the final solution.
The structure for the website was intricate, complete with an online-booking engine, flight-search facility and enquiry system. Chatting in real-time to online staff of Fly Sri Lanka was also enabled to allow 'ease-of-access' to the consumer.
The flight-search results and online-bookings could be filtered by 'Scheduled Flights' (where the consumer can choose an already scheduled flight and book a seat) and 'Charter Flights' (where the consumer can charter/book an entire flight)
The layout and design was neat and tidy with a flash-player displaying a series of aerial shots of the Island at the top (on all pages).
Result
Fly Sri Lanka is somewhat, a pioneer to the domestic air-travel industry. Due the vast experience of the principal company (in the Tourism industry - Eco Team), Fly Sri Lanka has noted that the site has facilitated more enquiries and been a portal to the group, as a whole.

EUREKA!

Social IT was the product of a multitude of experiences which were, weirdly, inter-connected. Recognizing opportunity within markets isn't enough. Having all the 'right' connections isn't enough. Opportunity must be met with a strategic plan to make all the pieces fit, which will in turn ensure long-term sustainability of the venture.
Social IT is here to stay!
